Note: I am trying to post letters, cards, etc. in date order. I realized after scanning this that the dates were D/M/Y on the letters, not M/D/Y. The order will clearly be imperfect, I will try my best.

My Dear John,

Hope this will find you well. Before proceeding further I must ask you to forgive me in not writing before, because I could not do any better. You know after my examination passed I was longing to hear of the results and my mind was not settled, anyway I heard about it last (Sta) Saturday. I got through fairly well. I came first among the girls, but two boys are still aheard of me, and I have to try my best with them next year (DV). I have just to sit for my Certificate Exam in June and then I will be through Duncan and Edna also got through good, Dunc took the first place.

I know that you will be surprised to know that Claribel Sullivan (that) is going to teach at Miss Birch. She started from yesterday and wants to go for Certificate in June with me, as she is too old to go for Pupil Teacher's Exam.

I am always remembering you and your little Jokes (you know them) Out here is still very dull, there is on news to send & tell you. How are you getting on? I have heard that you are going to school, I hope that you will get through nicely and achieve what you desire.

Well, boy Christmas is on us again. It seems to me as if it has passed only a few weeks ago. Hope to hear from you before that time.

How is Etta. Give her my love. I haven't heard from her for quite a long time, and wondering to know what has happened. But you know the old saying "Sea-water cuts love." Perhaps that is the case with her. Tell her I ask her to write me, as she owes me a letter.

All the children join in sending their love. While I remain

Yours as ever

Vida

p.s. Write soon and excuse all of my mistakes as I am in a hurry

My Dear John

I must firstly ask an excuse for delaying a reply to your letter so long, but I misplaced it, and so that kept be back but I got the address from Duncan.

I am indeed glad to hear you are getting on fine and hope you will succeed. That's right stick to your studies, and make a place for yourself since you have the opportunity.

My brother has left N.Y. on a ship as a sailor. He has gone to China so he has told me to await his return to send for me, so I may not be able to come this year, any way I will await my chance I know I am only wasting time.

Give my regards to Etta, and tell her I wish her all success.

Our exam was last week. The children did fairly well.

I saww Miss Birch last week I was up there on a drive. All send their regards. Cheers hoping to hear soon.

I am yours sincerely.

Eena.

Dear Johnie trusting this to find you well as this leaves us So. So I have receive yours safe and the ten Dol. My chief reason of writing you is concerning John. Now he has passed 6th std. and Mr Nicholls before he examined them called out whose name is to leave school. So John was one of the names. I don't know if you understand that after 14 years they have to leave school well Mr. Nicholls persuade them as they leave school to get to whatever trade they like. I think that is very good advice now you know John has told you long time ago that he don't like a trade. So I am asking you to try and get John out as quick as you can and again the governor here has said after a boy in these days is 15 years he can take his own manship upon him he need not say he is going to no Father to find him he said that because some out there was sending for their sons. 15 and 16 yrs the Consellor would not give them a pass and you may teach a child the fear and honour of god as much as you like in these days they are bent upon their own will and the boy children get with their comrads they teaches them every evil so try your best and get John out before he pick up too much I am not going to take him out of the School because he will get idle and lazy You will have to get a permit there and his ticket before he is fifteen The next thing he has to be Christened because the Profession he is choosing he have to got his Baptismal
